Overview

Depart your accommodation approximately 8am for a drive to scenic coastal spots, on way to the the Driving Creek Railway.  The railway attraction is New Zealand’s steepest and only narrow-gauge mountain railway. Climb 2.7km from the Base Station at 55 metres above sea level to EyeFull Tower at 167 metres above sea level, a total climb of 115 metres.  Afterwards, stop for a stroll in the charming town of Coromandel before heading off for the afternoon exploring the sights along The 309 Road back to Whitianga.  Where possible, stopping to see some unique NZ local sights such as Stuart and his famous pigs who are often dotted all over the road.  Enjoy some short walks to see the Waiau Falls and the Kauri groves.  Stop for an included lunch and explore of quirky “The Waterworks”

Additional Information

– A minimum of 10 passengers is required for this day tour to go ahead.

– The 309 route is a slower backcountry drive, unsealed in places and can be quite windy.  Please let your tour guide know if you are sensitive to motion sickness at all.

– Suggest wear good enclosed shoes, some of the tracks in/out of waterfalls can be gravel with some short steep inclines.

– Bring your own water bottles, sun protection
