Book this shuttle bus if you’d like transport from your accommodation at Ohakune to Whakapapa Village. Bus will arrive approximately 3pm and will depart approximately 7pm and is suitable for Koning Aap guests not wanting to book onto the guided sunset hike optional tour, who would like to still visit Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre, located in Whakapapa Village.
From here, you can walk independently on easy tracks such as the Ridge Walk, Whakkappanui Creek Walk, Tahwai Falls Track.
The bus will also transport guests booking onto the Guided Sunset 2 hour hike, departing the visitor centre at 5pm.
Subject to weather conditions, the tour guide will advise if it’s possible to get to the Sky Waka gondola, which you pay for locally $49 pp
Tongariro National Park Visitor Centre is located in Whakapapa Village, the main gateway into the park. It is New Zealand’s first national park and a UNESCO dual World Heritage Area recognised for its natural and cultural landscapes.
