After lunch time, you are invited to join our coach, which will transport you around Alice Springs town to visit Anzac Hill. From the hill you have a beautiful view over Alice Springs and the MacDonnell Ranges, the mountains around Alice Springs. The monument on Anzac Hill was originally built to commemorate the fallen soldiers of the First World War. Today, all fallen soldiers are commemorated here. Afterwards we head to a guided tour of Alice Springs School of the Air (admission fees payable), the Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre (admission payable), before we enjoy a visit to Alice Springs Brewery Co for a last cool beverage before heading to the airport for our flight to Darwin
A trip to the Alice Springs School of the Air Visitor Centre will bring to life an integral and unique facet of children’s lives in the Australian Outback. You will hear about their stories of school from afar, life on the land, and share in their dreams, achievements, and journeys.
What you’ll experience: Listen to a presentation from our local guide about the evolution of the School of the Air. Learn how technology have changed the delivery of education in Outback Australia and how our Outback families integrate their children’s educational needs with the challenges of remote living. Watch a short film which provides a snapshot into the lives of our students and their tutors, as well as seeing what it is like for our teachers to visit our Outback families
Alice Springs Royal Flying Doctor Service Tourist Facility, housed in Alice’s original RFDS base, find out why the Flying Doctor remains so critical for those who choose to live and work in the bush. See and learn through the heroic tales of the service in Central Australia since 1939. The Australian Outback offers spectacular scenery and the chance for a great adventure. But it is important to be ready for the rigours of travelling in isolated areas. Unfortunately, up to a quarter of the emergency medical evacuations that the RFDS carries out each year are the result of city travellers who get into trouble on their outback adventure.
