On a holiday to Hamilton Island, you’ll be surrounded by pristine white beaches and a kaleidoscope of coral and marine life. Hamilton Island is a perfect base for exploring the Great Barrier Reef and world-famous Whitehaven Beach.
There’s plenty to do during your Great Barrier Reef holiday on Hamilton Island. You can enjoy a wide selection of bars and restaurants, year-round cultural exhibitions and performances, an abundance of water sports and activities – and that’s just the start.
Enjoy your morning exploring the island on the free shuttle bus before your afternoon cruise to Whitehaven Beach.
Make your way down to the Hamilton Island Marina where you enjoy a scenic return cruise through to Whitehaven Beach.
Whitehaven is said to be unequalled in sheer beauty and is listed in the top five beaches on the planet.
You’ll soon understand why this stunning beach earned its title when you laze on silky-fine sand, swim in the crystal clear shallow water, or wade out to its clear depths. You can likewise explore the southern coastline of this uninhabited island for the next two hours or just swim and relax on the beach.
The southern end of Whitehaven Beach is protected from the winds and offers picnic and bathroom facilities.
Departs Hamilton Island at 1:10PM and returns at 5:00PM.
Today you will experience the ultimate full day reef adventure! You will spend a full day exploring the Great Barrier Reef.
The journey here through the lush Whitsunday Islands will have you reaching for your camera. But underwater is really where the magic happens. Incredible number of bright tropical fish and more than 1,400 species of coral await.
You will start by cruising through the Whitsunday Islands until you reach the pontoon at spectacular Hardy Reef. There, you will plunge right into the World Heritage listed wonder where you can snorkel along the top of the reef platform (if tide allows) or follow the edge of the reef platform where all the best corals and fish can be seen.
Climb aboard the semi-submersible vessel for a guided tour along the reef wall, all while staying dry! When you need a quiet moment to yourself make your way into the underwater observatory, where you can sit and watch the fish and snorkelers go by, or look beyond to the coral wall and watch the colours change as the light changes.
When lunchtime comes around you will enjoy a delicious buffet lunch onboard with fresh local prawns, a selection of cold meats and a fabulous array of salads to choose from.
Use the rest of your afternoon to relax or take one last snorkel, and as your day fades into the sunset you will leave with life long memories of this epic Australian icon.
It’s time to explore the island. With access to your own golf buggy to get around, explore and relax on Catseye Beach or swim at the many swimming pools you have access to. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes to try and you may even like to enjoy a game of mini golf or take a kayak out!
