Day 1
Arrive into Ayers Rock airport and transfer to your accommodation at Sails in the Desert.
In the afternoon you will be picked up for a short transfer to the remote Field of Light desert location with majestic views of Uluru.
You’re welcomed at an exclusive dune top just after the sun has set on the horizon. Savour a selection of outback canapes with sparkling wine or beer as your host provides insight into the light installation that awaits you. As darkness falls, 50,000 glass spheres gently come to life. Covered under a sky brilliant with stars, Field of Light beckons you to explore and lose yourself momentarily in the rhythms of coloured light.
Day 2
Travel to Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park’s entrance, then journey 40 km through the desert to witness the magnificent rock formation. Watch the morning glow and see the 36 domes of this spiritual place from the best vantage point. Enjoy an outback picnic breakfast before visiting Walpa Gorge, where your guide will explain the significance of this men’s sacred ceremonial site. Take a stroll between the conglomerate rock walls and learn about the environment’s evolution. Finally, return to your accommodation at Ayers Rock Resort with your guide.
Day 3
This afternoon travel in the comfort of your coach around the base of Uluru with your Driver Guide who will provide details on its incredible history. You’ll be fascinated by the Aboriginal stories that go back many thousands of years. Learn the significance of ancient Aboriginal rock art, about the area’s flora and fauna, and culture of its traditional owners, the Anangu. After a spectacular sunset at Uluru, enjoy an outdoor Aussie BBQ Dinner at our exclusive site within the Uluru National Park.
Day 4
Travel through desert scenery to Kings Canyon Resort. Pass through Curtin Springs and view Atila (Mt. Conner). After turning off the Lasseter Highway and onto Luritja Road your Driver Guide will provide commentary about the history of the surrounding cattle stations. Arrive at Kings Canyon Resort before dusk.
This evening experience the magical Light Towers and awaken your sense to the mystery of the outback as you wander amongst this immersive visual and aural display.
Day 5
This morning you will join you guide for a 6km walk to the rim of King’s Canyon and learn about the history and geology of the region as well as the flora and fauna. If time permits you will visit the permanent water source of the Garden of Eden and enjoy spectacular views across Watarrka National Park.
Alternatively, for a more leisurely experience, take the Creek Bed Walk for spectacular views of the sheer rock face at the far end of the canyon with the option (own expense) of a scenic helicopter flight over Kings Canyon.
Travel from Kings Canyon to Alice Springs by luxury coach with informative commentary along the way.
Day 6
Experience the magnificent grandeur of the West MacDonnell Ranges on this fascinating one day tour. Marvel at towering fiery red walls set aglow by the desert sun as you drive along the ranges. Tour through these amazing ranges all day and stop at beautiful gorges and waterholes, where we can enjoy a refreshing swim in the warmer months. Enjoy beautiful walks at Simpsons Gap, Standley Chasm, and the Ochre Pits.
Day 7
Today is at your leisure until its time to transfer to the Alice Springs airport for your departing flight.
