You’ll meet with your tour at approximately 8am and spend the morning taking in all major attractions of the revitalised Perth CBD, taking in all major attractions including the Western Australia Cricket Ground (WACA) and Optus Stadium by coach. Then on to Kings Park Botanical Gardens, where you have the opportunity to view wildflowers or take in the stunning views from the war memorial looking back over the city skyline. Continue through the affluent Western Suburbs of Perth, known as Millionaires’ Row before reaching Cottesloe Beach where the Indian Ocean sparkles. Travel on into historic Fremantle, viewing the impressive facades of this heritage listed city including a brief stop. Enjoy a relaxing Swan River cruise back to Perth returning to Barrack Street Jetty Perth at approximately 2:15pm. Enjoy your afternoon and night at your leisure.
Travelling through the Swan Valley, we arrive at New Norcia, home to Australia’s only Benedictine Abbey. A little piece of Spain comes alive in this town, full of history, art and architecture.
Hear the local history before viewing the chapel and museum artefacts gifted to the monastery by Popes and Royalty of Spain. Visit the famous Benedictine Community with a guided tour of the town and main sites including the museum and art gallery where you will find extraordinary artefacts dating back to when New Norcia was an Aboriginal mission.
Next we move on to the Abbey Church; home to one of only two large Moser organs, originally crafted in Germany. This is followed by a visit to St Gertrude’s College, a grand gothic style building which was originally built as a girls boarding school and opened in 1908. We then visit a produce shop selling olive oil, fruit, wine, New Norcia nut cake and breads, before enjoying a delicious lunch.
We continue on for an easy paced walk through the mystical Pinnacles Desert and see the Pinnacles from the lookout over the park. If time permits make a visit to the Pinnacles Desert Discovery Centre.
We travel south from Perth driving through farmland with grazing cattle and passing by coastal towns. Arriving at Busselton, known as the gateway to the Margaret River Region we stop for morning tea (own expense) at the iconic Busselton Jetty, the longest timber jetty in the southern hemisphere. Driving into the heart of the region we head to one of Margaret River’s oldest breweries for a gourmet platter lunch of local produce, with complimentary beer and cider tastings. Following lunch we continue south through the forest to an internationally renowned winery to taste some of their best award winning wines, whilst gaining some industry insight on wine production with the opportunity to purchase. Next it’s on to Mammoth Cave for a guided tour through this gothic cave with vast chambers that reveal fascinating information on the regions flora and fauna. Continuing south, through the Boranup Forest of enormous Karri Trees we reach the most fascinating part of the region Augusta. Here at Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse, marvel at the dividing point between the Southern and Indian Oceans, a rare phenomenon to view the meetings of the two Oceans.Then we head North up to the township of Margaret River for a brief stop to stroll the main street. After a long but fantastic day giving you a full taste of this wonderful region, it’s back to Perth with an en route comfort stop arriving at approximately 8:30pm.
Today is a free day for you to explore Perth taking in the fascinating history at your own pace. You may want to catch a free CAT bus to Perth Museum or take a stroll along vibrant Murray St mall for some shopping. Visit Perth’s favorite local getaway destination on a day trip to Rottnest Island, located just offshore in the Indian Ocean. Travel to Rottnest by high-speed ferry from either Perth or Fremantle (your choice), and then embark on a 1.5-hour sightseeing tour of the island by coach. While you listen to narration from an informative guide, check out landmarks like the West End and Wadjemup Lighthouse. Then enjoy free time in the afternoon to explorethe car-free island at your leisure. You might even meet a quokka or two along the way!
