By joining this fully hosted all-inclusive four-day walk you’re not only witnessing an environment in recovery, you’re actively participating its revival. You’ll see and hear the results of active conservation as you walk through the landscape and meet the wildlife in the company of passionate field guides. Explore 60,000 acres of privately-owned and carefully protected outback with a maximum of ten walkers.

In true Wild Bush Luxury style, the Arkaba Homestead pays homage to its rich pastoral and exploration heritage in a manner that is both rustically chic and utterly exclusive.

Your hosts ensure a friendly and personal level of service that is typically ‘down to earth’ but does not lose sight of the attention to the small details that are so important in delivering an outstanding outback experience.



The original layout of 1850s’ homestead has been retained, delightfully making all of the five guestrooms unique. Each has its own character and all have ensuite bathrooms and open out onto a shaded verandah with individual views of the surrounding ranges. Four are located in the homestead, while the Coachman’s Cottage in the corner of the garden provides a fifth guestroom and is ideal for honeymooners.

The rooms are air conditioned / heated and the mix of king and twin beds have premium mattresses, organic cotton sheets and a choice of pillows to ensure a great night’s sleep.

A comfortable library with deep leather armchairs and a large stone fireplace provides seclusion for enjoying a quiet drink and a good book, while dinner is hosted on the terrace overlooking the ranges. In the heat of summer, the swimming pool overlooking the Arkaba Creek is a welcome retreat after a morning or day spent exploring the bush.

Traversing an ancient outback landscape within our private wildlife conservancy in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges, you’ll be immersed in the story of the land. 600 million years of geological history echo through the stratified layers of Wilpena Pound and the Elder Range, providing spectacular backdrops throughout the walk. The craggy sandstone bluffs and dry creek beds lined with River Red Gums are a quintessential Australian scene. You’ll traverse the basin of Wilpena Pound on day one, escorted by Arkaba’s field guides whose passion is sharing knowledge and connecting you with nature.


Meet and greet Adelaide airport or city located hotel before we hit the open road for our direct journey to the Flinders Ranges and your guided lay of the land safari experience on arrival at Arkaba.


Traverse the basin of Wilpena Pound before crossing onto Arkaba’s private wildlife conservancy and descend to Black’s Gap Signature Swag Camp. Glorious diversity meets big outback space and starry skies.


Stretch out in one of the world’s oldest landscapes, learn about Arkaba’s 500-million-year journey and how we are protecting and allowing natural processes to reassert themselves in this country.


Walk across varying terrain through Mallee and cypress forests before ascending the Red Range. Immerse yourself in our ancient Arkaba Creek line alive with glorious diversity enroute to Arkaba Homestead.



Depart Arkaba for a scenic road transfer through charming outback South Australian towns with wine tasting and lunch in the Clare Valley wine country. Arrive Adelaide airport at 5pm to meet onward flights from 6pm.

Prices are correct at time of publishing but are subject to change at any time.


All rates include a Conservation Levy with at least 2 per cent of the all-inclusive experience on The Arkaba Walk going back into conservation projects.

The Conservation Levy does not increase the package price; it is simply a guarantee that a minimum amount goes directly to initiatives in protecting Arkaba’s biodiversity.

Walking Season:

Weekly departures between 17 March 2022 – 11 October 2022 and 16 March – 31 March 2023. Seasonal closure from 10 October 2022 until 15 March 2023.

One way road transfer from Whyalla to Arkaba (v.v) to connect with commercial Rex Regional Express flight from Adelaide.

Weight restrictions apply to all air transfers. Bodyweight & luggage weights must be supplied for confirmation of flights

Scenic flight upgrade options are available on all air transfers. The scenic flight can be conducted on arrival or departure into Hawker airstrip. The scenic flight will include the Elder Range, Arkaba and Wilpena Pound, with views across Lake Torrens.

Third parties operate all extra services, and therefore changes may be made to some services where costs change markedly (e.g. fuel costs), and you will be notified of this in writing.

Air Charters and Weight Restrictions:

There is a general luggage weight restriction of 12kgs per passenger in soft-sided bags to fit in the aircraft luggage compartments at maximum capacity. This weight restriction is subject to the flight’s overall payload restriction. So if you will be travelling with more, you can:

Store it at your hotel.

If you are staying in Adelaide the night before their charter flight, you would be able to store any excess luggage with the reception.

Store it at Adelaide Airport

Adelaide Airport has self-service storage lockers located in the parking lot directly across from the main terminal. They have several sizes ranging from Small (420mm H x 900mm D x 420mm W) for $12.00 per 24 hours to Large (864mm H x 900mm D x 420mm W) for $16.00 per 24 hours.

Should you arrive with more than the approved luggage allowance, there may be a chance the operator will offload the excess. In this instance, it would be safely stored and delivered either to a hotel or Adelaide Airport before your onward flight at the cost of $150. Please speak to the pilot and complete credit card authority on the day.

Although all care is taken, Arkaba does not accept responsibility for any expense incurred by a passenger due to any delay, alteration or mechanical failure with a charter aircraft.

Please be sure to advise us of any flight changes (timings, flight numbers etc) and be sure to check that your final reconfirmation has the details correctly noted. Wild Bush Luxury and Arkaba will not be responsible for transfers, accommodation, touring, or any travel arrangements affected.

Booking Conditions


Transport to/from Arkaba Homestead on ex Arkaba package, travel insurance, items of a personal nature and optional activities during the time at leisure at Arkaba.

Minimum Numbers:

Our Wild Bush Luxury experience on the Arkaba Walk operates with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 10 people. Our Arkaba Walk Just for Families experience operates with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 10 people. We would rather not run into many people, so we dial up on vast open space and keep numbers to a privileged few. We will be in touch at least 35 days before the scheduled departure to work through possible alternatives if the Arkaba Walk falls below the minimum numbers. We care about your holiday and value your decision to travel with us. Thoughtful consideration will be taken to give the option of an inspirational Wild Bush Luxury alternative or a full refund on rare occasions when a suitable choice is not available.

Solo Walkers:

One solo walker is welcome on any Original Arkaba Walk departure date at no additional charge, excluding the Arkaba Walk Just for Families package. They will be guaranteed a private swag deck and Homestead Guestroom accommodation throughout. If other solo walkers would like to join a departure date with another solo walker already confirmed, a $1,500 nett single occupancy surcharge applies.

Exclusive Walk:

The cost is equivalent to paying for 9 of 10 walkers to book a walk exclusively, so one guest will experience Wild Bush Luxury on The Arkaba Walk with our compliments. Excludes the Arkaba Walk Just for Families package.

Family Policy:

The Arkaba Walk welcomes children 12 years and over, reducing to 8 years on the Arkaba Walk Just for Families package.

Cancellation Policy:

Our business depends on maximising occupancy, and cancellations often result in empty places due to booking lead times. Therefore, within 30 days of arrival, all monies will be forfeited. This includes requests to postpone within 30 days. We reserve the right to cancel bookings that remain unpaid within 30 days of arrival.

Cancellations must be advised by email to [email protected] and will take effect from the date received. No refunds if guests leave prematurely after the trip has begun.

Pre-Existing Medical Conditions:

Before making a booking, any pre-existing medical condition, mobility impairment or disability should be advised. The Arkaba Walk may request an assessment of the medical condition from a qualified medical practitioner. Suppose your clients fail to adequately notify The Arkaba Walk of any pre-existing medical conditions or disabilities. In that case, The Arkaba Walk reserves the right, at its reasonable discretion, to cancel participation at any time. Including after the commencement. With no right of refund if the medical condition, mobility impairment or disability could be reasonably expected to affect the normal conduct of the trip and the enjoyment of other guests.

Force Majeure:

‘Force Majeure’ means (without restriction) any event which Wild Bush Luxury Experience Pty Ltd trading as The Arkaba Walk could not, even with due care, foresee or avoid. Force Majeure covers events such as, but not limited to, adverse weather conditions, fire, flood and all similar circumstances beyond our control. In the case of Force Majeure, Wild Bush Luxury Experience Pty Ltd will not accept liability and reserves the right to change and cancel trips. Any changes will be communicated in writing with care for your clients in mind.

Travel Insurance:

We recommend that all guests obtain travel insurance, including a cancellation policy and emergency medical care.
