Escape to our wildlife haven on Kangaroo Island and experience tranquillity and relaxation like never before in the privacy of your own villa.
Sea Dragon Lodge & Villas is Kangaroo Island’s premium eco retreat offering you complete privacy and relaxation. Experience Kangaroo Island all to yourself with our private beach – Pink Bay.
Witness the beauty of South Australia and notice signature details in each accommodation as we feature picture windows, local artwork and wildlife at your doorstep.
This is a 4 day long weekend (Friday – Monday) of spectacular vistas, with access to a private secluded beach, wildlife at your doorstep, delicious “home-cooked” meals and small group or private bespoke tours.
Imagine waking each morning to the peaceful sound of birdsong and watching kangaroos hopping just beyond your bedroom window. Or, you could take a short stroll to your very own private beach, where you can watch dolphins frolicking in the crystal clear waters or enjoying a glass of wine while the sun is setting.
Your Kangaroo Island adventure starts with your ferry from Cape Jervis to Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. From here it is a 30mins transfer to Sea Dragon Lodge.
Your accommodation is an eco-villas for the next three nights, architecturally designed to provide luxury and a strong connection to the natural Australian bush. The villas offer open plan living with a relaxing ambience and provide spectacular and sweeping ocean views.
Departing from Sea Dragon at approximately 9.00 am, our day of adventure begins travelling west across the island towards the first stop, Seal Bay Conservation Park. Keep your eyes peeled for wildlife on the roadsides as you drive through a variety of vegetative areas.
Seal Bay Conservation Park is home of the endangered Australian sea lion. There are only an estimated 12,000 sea lions left and Seal Bay is the third largest colony of this species. Walkthrough the untouched sand dune system and along the pristine beach with your experienced guide or knowledgeable Park Ranger for approximately an hour, learning all about these beautiful creatures.
Keep your eyes peeled for Perentie Lizards lazing in the sun as we return to the vehicle and head into the Flinders Chase National Park, viewing the rejuvenation of native bush species from the devastating bushfires of 2019. A stop at Remarkable Rocks will give you the first views of the rugged coastline in this diverse National Park. The amazing rock formations and distinct red rocks are a photographers delight.
Stopping for lunch, the afternoon will be spent at other known attractions in the park, namely Cape Du Couedic, Weirs Cove and Admirals Arch. Learn about the early maritime history of this wild environment, all the while, spotting other native animal species including New Zealand Fur Seal seals at Admirals Arch, Echidna’s, Kangaroo’s, Tammar Wallabies and a range of birds and reptiles.
On the return to your accommodation, we will stop for a swim at one of the many picturesque beaches (temperatures permitting) or a short walk to stretch your legs on the way home, arriving at approximately 5.30pm.
Departing from Sea Dragon at approximately 10.00 am, the day is spent visiting a variety of venues specialising in food and drink production. The specific locations will vary depending on time of year, opening hours and other operational factors, however a highlight of the day is no doubt a visit to KI Spirits, the oldest Gin Distillery in Australia.
Join a guided tour of the distillery and Gin garden with a dedicated staff member to explain the different production areas while learning about the many herbs grown on the property and used in flavouring. Afterwards, sample a gin and mixer paddle and enjoy lunch in the garden while having access to discounts on limited edition distillers ranging from liqueurs and Vodka’s.
For those that are not partial to alcohol we will offer an alternative tasting option.
Other activities in the day might include a visit to an organic honey farm and shop, to learn about Ligurian bees and honey production and buy produce from only the purest strains of Ligurian honey, a visit to the KI Brewery for a tasting paddle of their craft beer and a visit to a working lavender farm at Emu Bay Lavender Farm.
We return to your accommodation mid-afternoon at approximately 3.30pm.
Wake up early this morning to enjoy a farewell walk of this amazing wildlife haven.
Sea Dragon Lodge offers several nature walks and extensive wildlife. Its 250 acre wildlife sanctuary is the home to most species of animal living on Kangaroo Island. Most animals are more active in the early morning and late afternoon so an early morning walk is the perfect time to see these iconic Australian wildlife.
Your transfer will then take you back to Penneshaw for your ferry back to the mainland.
Step out onto a spectacular 250-acre seafront estate with stunning ocean views and wildlife at your doorstep. Sea Dragon Lodge is the perfect retreat for a relaxing island escape.
Our private, pristine sandy beach – Pink Bay is just a few minutes’ walk and accessible to every guest. For travel from February 1st, 2021 to June 30th, 2022
Should a government mandated restriction or lockdown (interstate, intrastate or international) be enforced that prevents you from staying with us, we will move your booking to a 100% credit to use towards another stay within a 12-month period.
If proof cannot be provided that your cancellation is due to a COVID-19-related restriction (eg driver’s licence showing home postcode, proof of a government instruction to isolate etc), our standard cancellation policy will apply.

FERRY CANCELLATIONS DUE TO WEATHER
On the rare occasion, typically in the winter months, high winds will prevent the ferries from running between Cape Jervis on the mainland and Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. In the event your booked ferry to Kangaroo Island is cancelled due to weather and you are unable to travel on a later ferry to arrive on the same day as planned, we will provide a credit of the unused portion of your booking to use again within a 12-month period. You can also choose to transfer this credit to a friend or family member for them to use towards a new booking. (Credit cannot be transferred towards an existing booking). Alternatively, we can provide a letter for your travel insurer for you to claim the unused portion of your booking from them, in which case, no credit will be provided.
FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS OR MISSED TRANSPORT
Please note we do not refund in the event of flight cancellations or other missed transport to the island. For this reason we highly recommend travel insurance, even for Australian domestic travellers.
