3 Days Tarkine Wilderness

Launceston

, Australia

Unwind and explore the Tarkine’s forested paths, hidden waterfalls and sweeping views. This journey blends nature, local knowledge and meaningful quiet moments across Tasmania’s rare and ancient wilderness.

Overview

The Tarkine Wilderness Guided Walk offers a rare opportunity to explore one of the world’s last temperate rainforests on a fully supported pack free adventure. Located in Tasmania’s remote northwest, the Tarkine is a place of extraordinary ecological and cultural significance, home to ancient forests, wild coastlines, and unique native wildlife.

Your journey begins in Launceston and travels west to the Tarkine, where the adventure unfolds with scenic walks, cultural insight and deep immersion in nature. A private cruise along the Pieman River sets the tone, drifting through mirrored waters surrounded by towering myrtle trees and moss lined banks. Each day, guided walks reveal the diversity of the region’s landscapes, from hidden waterfalls and rainforest trails to open coastal stretches and mountain viewpoints.

Evenings are spent at Corinna Wilderness Retreat, a historic eco-lodge nestled on the banks of the Pieman River. Enjoy the comfort of private cottages with ensuites and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Meals are served in the lodge restaurant and feature local Tasmanian produce and regional wines, making your stay as nourishing as it is comfortable.

Flexible walking options are available to suit different fitness levels, and experienced guides will tailor the pace and route to match the needs of the group. Their local knowledge and passion for the Tarkine bring the landscape to life, offering a deeper understanding of its flora, fauna and conservation challenges.

This journey also includes participation in the Conservation Custodians initiative, where guests are invited to contribute to simple and meaningful tasks that support the preservation of this remarkable environment. Whether climbing a mountain or quietly paddling to a hidden waterfall, this walk is a genuine connection to place. It is a chance to explore, reflect, and reconnect in one of Australia’s most precious wild spaces.

You’ll have the flexibility to discover each destination at your own pace, with the confidence of having essential logistics taken care of and access to local support if needed.

Accommodation Flexibility
We understand that every traveller has different needs, so our itineraries offer flexibility in accommodation. You can choose from a range of hotels, from 3-star options to luxury 5-star properties, in most locations. Dynamic Pricing
Many of our accommodation providers and local suppliers use dynamic pricing models, which means prices fluctuate depending on factors such as demand, travel seasons, and availability.
Our listed “from” prices represent the lowest available rates based on low season travel with full availability. When you request a quote for your preferred travel dates, we’ll provide an accurate, up-to-date price based on availability at the time of quoting.
Prices may vary between the time we provide a quote and when you confirm your booking. Should there be any price differences, we will notify you before final confirmation and payment.

Itinerary Order & Availability
The order of your itinerary, including accommodation, tours, and transport, may be adjusted to secure the best availability and ensure a smooth travel experience. While we strive to follow the proposed itinerary as closely as possible, changes may be necessary, particularly during peak travel periods or when bookings are made close to your departure date.
For bookings made well in advance and outside of peak seasons, itinerary changes are uncommon. Any adjustments will be communicated to you in advance and are made with the aim of maintaining or improving the overall experience.
The final itinerary—including the order of your activities and accommodations—will be confirmed after your booking is secured.
